Information on Email Disconnects

If you are having trouble with dropped email connections, we would like you to check two things before contacting the Help Desk.
  1. Make sure Outlook or Outlook Express is not set to disconnect after sending and receiving. To check this setting, do the following:
  2. For Outlook Express:

    1. Open Outlook Express (there is no need to dialup to CCPL).
    2. Click on "Tools" at the top of the screen.
    3. Select "Options" from the drop-down menu.
    4. Choose the "Connection" tab from the Options menu (it should be in the back row on the right).
    5. Make sure that "Hang up after sending and receiving" is NOT checked.

    For Microsoft Outlook:

    1. Open Outlook (there is no need to dialup to CCPL).
    2. Click on "Tools" at the top of the screen.
    3. Select "Options" from the drop-down menu.
    4. Choose the "Mail Setup" tab (the 2nd tab).
    5. Make sure that "Hang up when finished with a manual Send/Receive" is NOT checked.
  3. Also, we would like you to verify that your email settings match the settings of your email client exactly as we have in the email manuals listed on our Setup Instructions/Manuals page. If they do not, please change them to reflect our setup.
