Creating Your Own Web Page

CCPL Internet Account holders may create their own pages on the World Wide Web by learning HTML and/or using one of the many commercial web design products (i.e. FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc .)

Where do I learn about HTML?

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the language of the Web, and what better place to learn HTML than on the web? There are many good sites available on the mainnet that will help you get started. Here are a few:

The Carroll County Public Library also owns several books to help you get started. This link to our online library catalog will take you to several books we currently own. Or ask at the Information Desk at any Library Branch the next time you visit us.

Can I put anything I want on my Web Page?

The answer is no. The Library's Collection Development and Tems of Service policies guide us as to what is acceptable content on our server. CCPL adheres to all Copyright laws and therefore all web pages and their content must also conform to the provisions set forth in our Online Copyright Policy and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Will Carroll County Public Library help me with my Web Page?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with personal help for creating your web page. We only provide the storage space for your site.
